I. ATM based residential ADSL
A. Congestion management
During periods of network congestion Voice Over IP traffic is prioritized over all other IP traffic to ensureaudio quality and 911 emergency service connectivity. Residential DSL is a low-cost, shared service intended for actitivies such as web surfing and e-mailing. Accounts found to be abusing network resources in a way that impacts the quality of service for others may be throttled in a pooled bandwidth group. This ensures fairdistribution of network resources. Alternate service plans are available for high-usage accounts.
Velocity Telephone reserves the right to throttle, but not completely block, certain classes of traffic during periods of network congestion.
B. Service blocking
Velocity telephone blocks communication on port 25 (SMTP) to servers outside of our internal network for accounts with dynamic IP addresses. This is done to prevent malicious software from sending spam. Accounts may connect to outside SMTP servers on the standard alternate port, 587. No other ports are blocked.

A. Congestion management

"Typical" Internet traffic has priority over all other IP traffic during periods of congestion. Traffic not categorized as "typical" is also placed into a rate-limited queue to ensure the highest possible level of service for activities such as web surfing, video ande-mail.

Ports being used for malicious/abusive purposes may be blocked for individual users on a case-by-case basis.
